Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Identify transportation projects to meet the needs of land use development, economy, traffic, public safety, health and social strategies for the Nation.
2. Compile, study, and evaluate background information to prepare narrative documents for planning the Nation’s future transportation needs.
3. Determine the status of assigned projects, expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet changing conditions.
4. Develops short and long term Transportation plans as may be reasonably necessary to maintain an updated inventory of roads and bridges and to develop the annual Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP).
5. Writes applications for additional funding available to Tribes, including non-recurring funding such as High Priority Project funding and Congressional earmarks such as public Lands Highways Discretionary grants.
6. Assists in the preparation of semi-annual reports to accompany the Nation's financial status reports.
7. Resolves problems utilizing acquired knowledge and analytical abilities.
8. Meet with tribal and agency representatives to discuss identified Tribal needs.
9. Arrange and conduct meetings with the public, committees and governmental representatives to ensure all parties are fully cognizant of projects planned and objectives are integrated and communicated.
10. Develop and maintain automated tracking systems, hard copy files and records for each project.
11. Confers and coordinates with project supervisors to determine status of developing projects.
12. Prepare estimates for planned transportation projects.
13. Researches and compiles information on a variety of planning issues from multiple sources.
14. Prepares maps, charts, tables of limited complexity.
15. Conforms to the program requirements and objectives of the program covered in the Code of Federal Regulations.
16. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Performs routine office tasks including data entry, file management, copying and answering telephone.
2. Ability to comprehend the Code of Federal Regulation as it relates to the Program.
3. Knowledge of planning principles and practices, including pertinent specialties.
4. Basic knowledge of Tribal and Community land use and demographics of the Seminole Nation.
5. Must be able to read, comprehend and compose reports.
6. Must possess good analytical skills with attention to details.
7. Ability to schedule and conduct meetings.
8. Must be able to comprehend and interpret legislation affecting Tribal lands and organizations.
9. Knowledge of computer software programs, which may include Microsoft Office, Internet applications, and Global Information Systems.
10. Ability to update and maintain website for Tribal Transportation program.
11. Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Engineering, Resource Development, Statistics or related field with one (1) to two (2) years related experience in planning, urban planning, land use planning, or engineering experience OR an equivalent combination of education and five (5) or more years progressive experience in transportation planning, urban planning, land use planning, or relevant transportation related field.
Licensing Status
Must be able to pass a Background check. Must be able to maintain a valid Driver’s License and be insurable under the Nation’s policy.
